प्रोफ़ाइल विवरण

Dr. Naresh Chandra Murmu is currently working as Chief Scientist and Heading Surface Engineering and Tribology Group. His current reseerach instrest includes  Additive and Smart Manufactuirng, Graphene Composite, Ink & Lubricants and Graphene Ultracapacitor. He received his B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Calcutta University, Calcutta in 1992, M.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India in 1994 and Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Varanasi, India in 2010. He joined as Scientist at CISR-Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute, Durgapur  in 2003 and working till date. Prior to it, he was working as scientist in CSIR-National Aerospace Laboratories, Bangalore. He also worked as Visiting Scientist in University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany during 2001-2003 and Northwestern University, USA during 2011-2012. He is a receipt of VASVIK Award (Mechanical & Strcutural Sciences & Technology) 2015, National Design Award (Mechanical Engineering) NDRF (2012), CSIR-Raman Research Fellowship (2012), DAAD fellowship -2000. Dr. Murmu has published over 100 research papers in journals and conferences, 4 book chapters and has filed 5 patents & 8 copyrights/design registration. He is currently Associate Editor, Journal of the Institute of Engineers (India) Series –C and Co-Guest Edited the Special Theme(2017): India’s Reusable Launch Vehicle Technology Demonstrator: The Future of Space Transportation System with Shri Sivan, K., Chairman, ISRO. Some of his notable contributions includes development and co-development of 5 Axis Micro-Milling Machine (demonstrated milling 100μm feature), Graphene Super-Capacitor (~113W/Kg at device level), Foil Bearing ( demonstrated at 30,000rpm), EHD-Ink Jet Printing , Graphene Lubricant (cof ~0.01) for hot forging and Miniature Turbine (demonstrated @2.73 Lakh rpm).
