This study provides a method for calculation of design forces in structure from the blast induced ground motion. A case study using a typical configuration of a single storey masonry dwelling in India is employed to illustrate the method. A basic acceleration response spectrum is developed along with a K-factor to describe the response characteristics for the buildings in the specific locality under consideration. The method considers simple principle of in-plane shear deformation and basic structural dynamics to facilitate calculation for the practicing engineers
