Dr. Malay Kr Karmakar is a researcher and his broad work area includes fluid flow, heat transfer, combustion, gasification and fluidization. He has completed PhD in the field of biomass gasification and his doctoral thesis was ‘Thermo chemical fluidized bed gasification of biomass.’ Currently his focus is in the field of thermal conversions of solid fuels (biomass & coal). During his doctoral work, he studied the hydrodynamics of bubbling and circulating fluidized bed systems. He has been awarded the ‘Raman Research Fellowship’ award from Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, New Delhi in 2010 and visited different universities in USA, UK, Belgium, and Colombia. His works has been published in national and international journals and conferences. A book on ‘Biomass Gasification – Thermo chemical fluidized bed gasification of biomass’ has been co-authored by him. He has also written a chapter on ‘Hydrodynamics of dual fluidized beds’ in the book ‘Hydrodynamics’
