M. Phani Kumar received his Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad and M. Tech in Industrial Tribology from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi in 2010. He is presently working as a scientist in Surface Engineering and Tribology Department at CSIR-Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-CMERI). He is also pursuing his PhD from  Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (ACSIR) in the area of porous gas bearings.
