Preliminary Investigation on Dip Pen Nanolithography

Main Objectives :

i) Development of molecules such as alkane thiols and other appropriate chemical entities for possible use as ink.

ii) Exploratory development atudies of Atomic Force Microscope or possible use in Dip Pen Nanolithography

iii) Investigation of spatially narrow deposition of ink molecules from the tip and self-assembly of ink molecules functionalized through chemisorptin to the different substrates of interest i.e. gold/glass etc.

What was achieved :

  • Development of molecules such as alkane thiols and others appropriate chemical entities for possible use as ink
  • Exploratory development studies of Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) for possible use in Dip Pen Nanolithography
  • Investigation on spatially narrow deposition of ink molecules from the tip and self assembly of ink molecules functionalized through chemisorptions to the different substrates of interest (i.e. gold/glass)
Project Number:

Deliverables:

Deliverables :

Envisaged Achieved
To develop molecules like alkane thiols for possible use as ink. Developed molecules using alkane thiols and appropriate chemical entities for possible use as ink
To carry out studies on AFM for possible use in Dip Pen Nanolithography Exploratory development studies was
carried on atomic force microscope for
possible use in Dip Pen Nanolithography
Investigation on spatially narrow deposition of ink molecules Investigation was carried on spatially
narrow deposition of ink molecules from
the tip and self assembly of ink molecules
functionalized through chemisorptions to
the different substrates of interest (i.e.
gold/glass).

What Next?  This was part of preliminary developmental studies and knowledge gained from this may used for next project on micro /scale additive manufacturing.
