Retractable Roof Polyhouse

Application/uses: 

In order to overcome the adverse climatic impacts and open-air pest infestations, it is used to manipulate sunlight quantity, quality and duration, water stress, humidity, carbon dioxide levels, and crop and soil temperatures for cultivation of horticultural crops

Salient Technical Competing Features: 
  1. Suitable for protecting crops from adverse climatic conditions
  2. It combines the benefit of both the natural outdoor environment and a controlled greenhouse environment to allow growers to extend harvest seasons in order to realize the higher prices, increasing yields
  3. It helps in growing organically or chemical-free crops in order to achieve higher revenues and lower production costs
  4. Prevents crop overheating by cutting infrared radiation,
  5. Better and uniform control on indoor humidity by adjusting the vents
  6. Uniform air and CO2 exchange from the atmosphere throughout the polyhouse
  7. Better plant vegetative by manipulating humidity and light
  8. More viable technology for organic cultivation
  9. Farmers can cultivate both seasonal and non-seasonal crops throughout the year which can fetch higher value and income

Status of Commercialization:  Technology has been transferred to one MSME client M/s Blue Stallion Equipments (P) Ltd., Ludhiana-141003, Punjab
Techno Economic:  • Available on Enquiry Basis • Manufacturing cost : Rs. 1500 to Rs. 3000 per m2 depending upon crop requirements and weather changes. • Return of Investment : Less than one year

Content Details: 
  • The cropping area in the retractable roof polyhouse is about 384 Sq. m.
  • Integrating with Artificial Intelligence in automating the Polyhouse based on the crop and weather requirements and providing an IoT enabled farmer friendly user interface (PLC based software)
Level/Scale of Development:  Installed in CSIR-CMERI-CoEFM Residential Campus which is operational
