Dr. Mukherjee earned his M. Tech. in Welding Technology and Materials Engineering in 2011 and his Ph.D. in Welding Metallurgy and Allied Processes in 2016 from Jadavpur University in Kolkata, India. He has been a Senior Scientist at the CSIR-Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute, Durgapur, since May 2019. His research interests include additive manufacturing of dissimilar materials, functionally graded components, Inconel-Ti64 hybrid components, shielding devices for additive manufacturing of reactive alloys, single and multi-robotic work cells with AI/ML support systems, alloy development, and dissimilar welding. Since July 2015, Dr. Mukherjee has been a life member of the Indian Institute of Welding (IIW), and since August 2018, he has been an AMIE of the Institution of Engineers (India). In 2012, he received the CSIR-SRF award from the Government of India. For his excellent contributions to the field of welding technology and development, he received several prestigious awards from IIW-India and the Institute of Engineers, India, including the Venus Wire award, the I.T. Mirchandani Memorial Research, the D & H Secheron award, the ESAB India award and the Young Engineer award.
